そんなわけでネット情報を頼りに引っかけたのがこの音源です。主役のSamuel Blaser（サミュエル・ブラッサー）という人はまったくのお初ですが、スイス出身の気鋭のトロンボーン奏者で現在ベルリンを中心にアンダーグラウンドな活躍をしているとか。アングラと表現したのは、メジャーな存在ではないという意味で、フリー界では引く手あまたの期待の星だとか。年齢的に30歳前後ということですがすでにリーダー作を何枚かリリースしています。参加メンバーは例によってお目当てのMarc Ducret（guitar）、Baenz Oester(bass)、Gerald Cleaver(drums)といったベテランぞろい。

Pierre Favre et Samuel Blaser : un jeu en totale décontraction, la parfaite connaissance de l´espace-sphère, la douceur des souffles et des frappes, un havre de simplicité et de complicité.
La percussion est de rebond ; les cymbales, cristallines, ne sont pas de rythme mais de réconciliation ; le roulement est économe ; le tambour n´est pas étau mais air vibrant. Le trombone est de largesse. Sans profusion mais avec justesse, il fait mine d´errer mais avance, sans dilemme, avec la force de ceux qui ont entraperçu le chemin. Un trombone et des tambours : ici, tout est d´intuition, de profondeur, de promesses et d´invitations.

As per usual, this DJ is always delighted to promote one of our own. Keep your evening free on January 27th and prepare to slink on down to le Cagibi (5490 St Laurent). At 8.30pm or thereabouts Peter Van Huffel's new trio ANIMAL FORUM will be hitting the stage. Expect the usual unusual from Peter himself on saxes, ably complimented by Samuel Blaser on trombone and Ziv Ravitz on drums. Their music is witty, challenging and groovy and if you don't believe me have a listen at their myspace. However, if I find anyone out there doubting my word, there will be the usual repercussions and reparations. You have been warned!!

In the world of jazz, the word "trio" usually connotes bass and drums with a guitar, piano, or sax out front. Animal Forum is a totally different species. In their totally improvised compositions, Canadian saxophonist Peter Van Huffel usually can be found exploring the upper register while Swiss trombonist Samuel Blaser probes the depths. As Van Huffel and Blaser interweave melodically, complex rhythms are in the capable hands of Israeli drummer Ziv Ravitz.
